The Heart of America Association of Blood Banks is a nonprofit, professional organization dedicated to improving Transfusion Medicine by fostering the exchange of information and bringing education opportunities to blood bank and transfusion medicine professionals.  The HAABB hosts two annual meetings for the Kansas City & St Louis areas.

The first session of the HAABB 2022 Virtual Summer Meeting went live on 06/15/2022 at 1:00p and lasted a little over an hour and 45 minutes.  The session began with a message from our HAABB President, Shay Jones, who was hosting the meeting from his hotel room in Hawaii.  The first session featured two fantastic speakers!!

Courtney E. Lawrence, MD, MS from American Red Cross.  Dr Lawrence is the Medical Director at the Virginia Region.  She presented Transfusion Strategies In Sickle Cell Disease:  Making Every Unit Count.
